For local dog lovers, Sanford and the surrounding communities have plenty of events throughout the year to keep you and your four legged friend entertained. From festivals to sporting competitions, you are sure to find an exciting event that gives you an opportunity to hang with your dog and support local rescue groups.  Some favorite annual events include:

• Pints n’ Paws - Held annually every spring right here in Historic Downtown Sanford, this event brings together dog lovers and beer lovers for a special craft beer festival. Tickets include unlimited tastings for dozens of local craft breweries on site. In addition, food trucks, live music, and plenty of four legged friends make this a memorable event. All proceeds go to local rescue organizations like Dolly’s Foundation and Pet Rescue by Judy.
• Paws in the Park - This annual event takes place in February at Lake Enola Park in Orlando, FL to support Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando. Dogs and humans have plenty of entertainment with agility courses, food trucks, beer gardens, and pet supply vendors. The highlight of the event is the PAWrade, a costume contest with fun categories and cash prizes. Entry to the event is free and all donations support shelter pets in the local area.
• AKC National Championship - For those who enjoy watching dog sporting events, this annual dog show is being hosted in Orlando, FL once again on December, 12-13, 2020. This is a sporting showcase with obedience, agility, and conformation. Tickets are available to the public, although only dogs that are competing are permitted at the event.

The larger events tend to take place a bit of a drive away. But Many smaller dog-friendly events take place throughout the year in Sanford. Charity runs and walks often permit dogs to join in as well. Local rescue groups often hold events and benefits to raise funds.
