The past few weeks, as Florida has been under lockdown, we see everyone getting a little bit restless. It's hard to stay indoors all day, and while it is possible to go for a few walks here and there, depending on where you live it may be hard to give your dogs the walks they need while also limiting social contact.

Dog parks are also how many dog owners once gave their pets exercise. Dog parks did remain open well into March, but they closed about a week before April, when most parks were closed throughout the state.

As of today, Gov Desantis announced that he's planning to open some parks. But the main decision about what parks are opened and closed will largely depend on the county. Here in Seminole County, parks have been closed around the same time. It's not clear whether or not dog parks are going to be opened soon, and according to the county's leisure service team (found here - this is also where they post updates), parks are still closed. You may occasionally see some people at these parks, but they are probably not supposed to be there.

    What's Next?

It's unclear when parks will open up again. It could be as soon as tomorrow or not for several weeks. Also, the State of Florida seems to be opening parks, but every county has control over their coronavirus decisions, and it's possible that Seminole County will wait longer than the rest of the state.

For now, the best way to give your dog exercise is with a long walk. If you are not ready to walk your dog given the risks of coronavirus, we at FurBabies Home Pet Care are happy to walk your pet for you at any time of day.
